Sterling silver jewelry is renowned for its beauty and elegance, but it requires proper care to maintain its luster and shine. This guide will provide you with essential tips and practices to ensure your sterling silver jewelry remains stunning for years to come.

 

1. Avoid harsh chemicals 

- Keep your sterling silver jewelry away from chemicals such as bleach, ammonia, and chlorine, which can damage the metal and stones.


- Remove your jewelry before swimming in pools or hot tubs.

 

2. Take if off during sleeping, exercises, or strenuous activities

- You can get all fine jewelry is fragile, that's why it is important to keep it safe. Wearing your jewelry during activities like sleep and exercising increases the chances of accidental damages.

- If you stop wearing your jewelry for a while, clean it with dish soap water, dry it with a soft cloth

- Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, as exposure to air and light can cause tarnishing.


- Use airtight containers, resealable bags, or anti-tarnish bag/box to prevent contact with the air.

 

4. Clean your jewelry properly :

  • Mix a half teaspoon of mild dish soap with a cup of lukewarm water in a bowl. 
  • Let your jewelry sit in the bowl for 3-5 minutes. 
  • Remove the jewelry from the bowl and rinse with fresh water. 
  • Use a soft (non-chemical) microfiber soft cloth to dry and polish your jewelry.

To avoid damage from everyday wear and tear, be sure to inspect your ring on a daily basis and take it off whenever you feel is appropriate. Generally speaking, a good soak once a week is an excellent way to get rid of any dirt and preserve the quality and luster of your metal.
